Penne Pasta with Sharp Cheddar Cream Sauce

Cooking Time:

35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups Penne pasta, cooked and drained
  • 1 ½ tbsp Butter
  • 1 ½ tbsp Flour
  • 3 cups Milk
  • 1 ½ cups Sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • ¼ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ⅛ tsp Cayenne pepper

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions, drain and set aside.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Stir in the milk and slowly heat for about 2 minutes.
  5. Wisk in the cheese.
  6. Add the Worcestershire and cayenne pepper.
  7. Keep at a low simmer for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
  8. Toss with the pasta and serve warm.

Think of this as a fancy macaroni and cheese.
